It's time to take advantage of all the beauty found outdoors once again and use it to decorate your home.  The best part, your little ones can be a part of the decorating process.  Today we will take fallen leaves and interesting small branches and create a beautiful centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table.  All you will need is a basket suitable for your Thanksgiving table and some autumn leaves and small twigs.

I did the collecting for this activity so that I could be selective about the leaves chosen since we will be using them for decoration.  If you are working with older children, they should be able to help collect if given the instruction to look for the most vibrant leaves and interesting twigs.

Once I had all the necessary materials, I set Sean and Isabel up at their table.  They quickly began filling the basket with leaves and twigs.

We also made use of the empty corn cobs from one of our other nature based activities.  They added a nice visual touch.

Even children as young as two were able to create something visually pleasing using items found in nature.

They created a beautiful and cost effective center piece!  This project could also be done using a tall glass vase instead of a basket.  Use your imagination and create your very own one of a kind Thanksgiving centerpiece.
