Pumpkin Harvest Party !

Fall is my favorite time of year ! The colors , The weather and the start of the holiday season . Harvests and pumpkins is what this months theme is all about . Embrace mother nature and all the amazing colors that are October and November . Set a theme with oranges, yellows, greens and browns you can even have a splash of maroon/wine red as well.

Location for this party is simple and easy outdoors and if you do not want to do the whole party outdoors for weather reasons you can do half inside and half outside . A lot of the local farms are great and set up for pumpkin picking pretty early I would call and ask if they throw birthday parties on premises.

The invites are the first thing your guests will see about your event and you should choose them with the theme and colors associated with the event . This invite from TooCuteInvites is adorable with 3 little pumpkins adorned with Glittered vines . The wording layer also has a fall inspired banner and leaves . Although they seem girly they can be done in a boy version as well .

 

Once the invites are in place its time to dress that little one ! Here are some great examples for birthday outfits and accessories. Now that you have decorated the little ones lets decorate the party area ! To bring the outdoors in every craft store has leaves, pumpkins and scarecrows . I would decorate with the leaf garlands and wreaths on mantles , stairways etc. Buy little wagons and fill them with pumpkins and have them displayed in the rooms as well . Table linens can be fun fall patterns in the colors we discussed before and make little napkin rings out of  ribbons and tie in one of the little leaves from the garland or packs they sell of just leaves.These Pumpkin Centerpieces from CoffeeKidsNDolls are perfect for your table scape's and you can also tie in the balloons too to make it more fun for the kiddies. Favors are your way of thanking your guests for coming to your party and to remember the special day ! I love the Burlap or Flour Sack look I would buy these pumpkin Iron-ons from Alphabulous and Iron them to a favor bag making it look even more fall fabulous. For the little favors I love these adorable pumpkin crayons from ScribblersCrayons they are the perfect size for little hands and every kid loves to color ! I would even make my own little coloring book using Kraft paper , ribbons and printable pages from the Internet . Use the Kraft paper as the front and back covers they add 4-5 coloring pages and punch holes with a full page hole puncher and tie it in with fall inspired ribbon and personalize with a great stamp or write in the childs name on the front cover ! These great pumpkin hair clips from KristinsKeepsakes are made from felt and ribbon and are so cute to hand out to your little girl guests ! Add all these Items and some candy into the bags and you have an great party favor .

 

Activities and games for this theme can be anything outdoorsy ! Set up a pumpkin patch in your yard and have the kids Pick and paint there own pumpkins. Have a harvest scavenger hunt add fall items they can collect in little baskets and they can be busy collecting them with friends as teams or on there own. Bobbing for apples is always fun and kids love anything with water involved.

 

Food is always fun and yummy this time of year . Pumpkins are EVERYWHERE as far as flavors so make mini pumpkin pies , Pumpkin cheesecakes and pumpkin dip ! Caramel apples are a must as well as apple turnovers. Make mini chicken potpies or little pumpkin shaped grilled cheeses using a pumpkin cookie cutter. Always think of the kids first some may be picky but if you make it fun I am sure they will love it.

Calling all Super Heroes .....its a Super Hero Party !

Every little boy loves Super heroes ! why wouldn't they want to be one ? They are cool , They have super powers, They can fly and they always save the day ! I think making this into a birthday theme is a great Idea. The best part about this theme is that there are so many hero's to work with. The colors are bright and bold . If its Batman or Superman or Captain America the colors you can include  are Yellows, Reds, Blues, Black and White But if you don't want to use the actual commercial superhero you don't have to either ! That's whats great about etsy's new Custom Order button you can ask the sellers a question or throw them the challenge to make something your way !

Location can be anywhere where with this theme. Look into cool Science museums in the area where the kids are free to dress up and play a lot of states have these types of children's museums and they love birthday parties ! Of Course home inside or out is another great space where you can decorate yourself and the party ends when you say so .

Once the party location and date are set then time to shop for invites. More great decor and activity ideas is setting up a comic city scene with old cardboard boxes and some black, silver and any other color you like ! Simply paint the boxes and stack them to make buildings add a dark starry backdrop and you have a great photo spot to take pics of them all together saving the city ! Another east entertaining fix is having there favorite superhero fly in for a bit whether it be a professional or dad in costume I am sure they will be thrilled !

 

Every Hero needs energy and what's better then food to keep them fueled ! some cute Ideas are Mini Pizza webs - Make mini English muffin pizzas and have the mozzarella patterned in a web for a great effect ! Add Grapes to skewers and make them Grape laser wands . Cover Oreos in a yellow colored white chocolate and add words such as POW and BAM ! Buy Bat cookie cutters and make Batman cookies or mini sandwiches !  Red and blue jello in white containers for captain America is a cute treat too !

Butterfly Garden Birthday Party !

Butterfly and Garden parties are a big hit this year . Every little girl loves Butterflies and the whole concept of a caterpillar turning into this beautiful creature is a great educational theme as well. Here are some great Items from EtsyKids team members to help you with the party and check out the great coupon codes at the end of this post just for us !

 A home Garden is a great and easy location for this theme- your back or front yard will work well !
An indoor space or sun room would be perfect as well with the right decorations . A lot of city parks let you take out permits to use there location if your yard isn't right for the party. Another trend I have been seeing is Butterfly exhibits at local Zoos and Museums . With admission you can have the kids learn all about these creatures and more.

Once the Date and Location are definite here are some great invitations to consider. They are both sent in digital form where you can print from your own home or from a local print shop.
The First one on your left is from SwishPrintables . Its is very cute and the 2 butterflies are bold and bright and in adorable colors ! The second one is from Smallfrynotables its more of a garden theme showing the sun , other buggies and butterflies as well ! Matching items are available as well to complete the look.

Every birthday girl or boy needs a special outfit for that day ! If you want to go fancy and full of butterflies with tulle and whimsy then these are for you . The Balloon buddy from Kidsloveletters comes in 3 great colors and patterns they are great as favors but I was thinking to hang them from trees as beautiful additions to your garden scape as well . Banners are always fantastic decor as well and this fabric one from Stitchinnetka is a beautiful color and fabric scheme and you can hang these everywhere as well ! mix and match is always OK to go beyond one color and look .

Now you need to keep these little buggies busy before they buzz out !! here are some ideas for crafts for this theme -

Decorate your own wings - Buy white poster board and draw the outline of butterfly wings big enough for the age of the guest . Punch out two holes on each side where the child's waste would go and you can add ribbon around the waste through the holes for them to wear there wings. Have a table set up with glitter , markers, stickers , ribbons etc and have the kids make there own wings !

Another great craft is have them decorate there own terracotta pots with paint and glitter etc then have them plant there own seeds for flowers to grow in - they will have to take care of the plant or flower when they get home teaching responsibility as well .

Favors to bring home are always a great memento from your child's special day. Food Ideas for this theme is simple as well . Stick to nature inspired theme
Fill Terracotta pots with all different types of granola mixes or sunflower seeds -age permitting of course.
Everyone loves little mud cups - fill cups with crumbled chocolate cake and add gummy worms for that buggy look .
Make a veggie platter as if its still in a planter using garden sticks to lable them have them "harvest" there own snacks.
Make a sub sand which and assemble each piece in a squiggly line add 2 celery sticks to the top of the last one for antlers and olives for eyes and you have a great Caterpillar !
