This week we introduce you to Etsy seller The Baby Handprint Company. The Baby Handprint Company has been creating 

Kids & Baby Handprints and Footprint Ceramic Keepsakes in California since 2010.

    

What motivated me to start shop?
My children first and foremost. I wanted to be home with my children. I began with a home preschool and wanted to pursue my love of art and art background. I opened up my home studio and began taking appointments. I then realized I could sell online by creating a mold I came up with and began sending out to customers all over the country and world.

What is the story behind shop name?
I recently changed my shop name to be a more direct link to what my shop is about. It doesn't get more direct than The Baby Handprint Co to understand what I create.

What is your favorite item in your shop?
I have several I love. My favorite handprint and footprint pieces are the heart ornament , Snowman ornament , elephant plaque and the unique abstract heart plaque.

What is the most challenging thing about being an etsy seller?
Turning it off. I am always on and need to shut down occasionally to get my work done in studio and being with family more. Being just one person to advertise and promote, photograph work, consult with customers, time working on each ceramic piece, boxing and mailing can take much time.

What I do with time off?
I spend with my time with my husband and two girls. Whatever that may be as long as it is time with them.

Meet Etsy Seller Art for Kids and Their Grown Ups

This week we introduce you to Etsykids seller Art for Kids and Their Grown Ups by Laurie Shanholtzer .  Laurie has been creating original pastel paintings and prints about sports, wildlife, dance, fantasy, horses, cats dogs and family ties on Etsy since September 2011.



    


What motivated you to start your shop?
I LOVE TO DRAW!! I can never remember a time in my life when I wasn't covered in pastel dust.  My career was commissioned pastel portraits. Now I am pursuing my first love; painting pictures for and about children. Also paintings that tell a story capturing a memory or wistful feeling. Etsy has been the perfect place to offer my artwork and hopefully many of them will be displayed in a child's room!
I do not think it is ever to early to introduce children to the love of art!

What is the story behind your shop name?
I am offering art for kids  and for adults to help relive wonderful childhood memories. I have some just for the adults that will hopefully give a good feeling.

What is your favourite creations from your shop?
My favorites are all the artwork for children. The most popular has been ""Someday... Little Brother"" where I can add personal information about the children. I think people like that their children are in the art!
I also love the one with the little girl and the horse ""Cowgirl Whispers'"

What surprised you most about having your own craft / online shop?
I didn't realize how much I would love doing this. Selling on Etsy has become a big part of my life!

 What do you find most challenging about being an Etsy seller?
Trying to create new works as fast as I can. And...  I am always looking for new ways to show my art to more people.

What's your personal philosophy behind your shop / products?
I try and reproduce the artwork on the best materials I can. I want them to look as close to the originals as possible. I will work with my buyers and try to answer their questions. I make sure both the originals and prints are sent out quickly and safely!
With my cards and invitations, I always connect with the buyer to make sure they are completely satisfied, usually send them a proof,  before I send out the final.

What do you do when you aren't working?
Day to day chores. But I spend a great part of each day drawing and working on my Etsy shop.

Meet Etsy Seller Claresclothesline

This week we meet Etsy seller Clare's Clothesline. Clare's Clothesline has been selling on Etsy since March 2012 and makes  pretty, yet practical items for babies including burp cloths, lovey blankets and more!





       


What motivated you to start your shop?
I had just had my second daughter and was given some cute burp cloths as baby gifts. I have always been crafty so I thought I would try my hand and making my own. The first person I gave some to asked me where I had purchased them. I was so flattered! So I decided to start making them and try to sell them on Etsy!

What is the story behind your shop name?
My first daughter is named Clare and loved the alliteration with "clothesline". I can always picture my items being dried on one. :)

What is your favourite creations from your shop?
My favorite item to make are personalized blocks. I love working with customers to create the perfect gift - I've made everything from Boston College themed blocks to princesses to turtles! 

What do you find most challenging about being an Etsy seller?
The most challenging thing for me is finding enough time to really work on making my products and promoting them.

What do you do when you aren't working?
When I am not working on my shop, I am taking care of my two girls (ages 7 and 4). I am also president of the Hingham Mothers' Club - a philanthropic women's organization in my town. I also love cooking, reading, going to Pure Barre classes, and going to the beach.
