Let's Get Dressed Up! EK SpringSale Feature

Posted Friday, March 22, 2013

Melting snow and longer days meant one thing to me as a child; time to break out the summer dresses!
After spending the winter bundled in humiliating snow suits, dreaming of warmer days and flip flops, the day Mom replaced the wool sweaters in my dresser with parfait colored shorts and light dresses was a magical one. Spring has been a long time coming this year, making shopping for this wished for season a great way to melt away the winter blues.

Check out these shops for great sales and a spring preview.

Chic Style:: Dresses for Little Girls

National Sewing month continues, are you following along over at The Sewing Loft?  Have the favorite tools and creative projects inspired you to put needle and thread to fabric or use your seam ripper or bias tape maker to whip up something new and fantastic?

In honor of National Sewing month, I've done a little sewing for two of my kids.  A fun navy blue and white striped pair of Pajama bottoms for my 9 year old, and I finally used a beautiful piece of brown corduroy with hot pink polka-dots I've had for a while now to make a dress for my daughter to wear on her first day of preschool.  I love the freedom being able to sew has given me to make things for my kids.

Nothing quite stands-up to the quality and uber chic style of well made custom handmade clothing,   and we have amazing designers and tailors to share with you today.  A little something for everyone's taste, size and budget.

Finding the Perfect Sibling Outfits

Posted Monday, June 25, 2012

From Salinda of PersonalilTy, Southern Children's Clothing

Why do Moms love to dress their children alike? Who knows, but obviously, this is not a new phenomenon. My Momma dressed us alike on occasion, and yours probably did too.

With the summer here, many families are planning sibling outfits for vacations, family reunions, weddings and of course, planning the annual holiday card photo.

Shopping for girls is easy.  Shopping for boys, can be easy -  if you know where to look!  Mixed gender can be tricky, but finding a shop and seamstress that does custom work helps immensely!

But, what do you do when your children range from newborn to 12???

Here’s an idea. Work for coordinating outfits instead. Put the baby in a seersucker jumper. Match big brother’s shirt to the jumper applique and add a seersucker touch. Finish off the set with a seersucker flower headband for big sister to wear with a white shirt and khaki shorts.

Another idea: Put the baby in a fun print. Find big brother a polo one of the colors from the baby’s dress. Big sister can add color with a bright scarf over her favorite white tee.

Etsy is an excellent source for coordinating accessories. Here are few of my favorites from EtsyKids Team members:

Work with your seamstress to develop the perfect color scheme for your growing family’s portraits to create a unique and totally personalized look the whole family will be happy with.

PersonaliTy Southern Children's Clothing can be found on Facebook, Twitter, her Blog, and of course on Etsy at her shop:
