What motivated you to start your shop?
I wanted cute things to add to my son's wardrobe.  I was able to find tons and tons of girl things, but when I went looking for boy stuff it was nearly impossible to find hardly anything.  So I started making him neckties and vests to add to his wardrobe.  So I started my shop with this in mind and it has snowballed into creative fun accessories that were easy to take care of and that had personality.

What is the story behind your shop name?
I couldn't think of anything really creative so I went with simple and was unique to me.  KBP Designs stands for Kristina Bell Perry Designs.

What surprised you most about having your own craft / online shop?
I have attempted to sell my items at local craft fairs and boutiques and it usually ended up as a bust.  I was also hesitant on opening my shop up online for the same reason.  So you can imagine my surprise when I began to see the amount of interest in what I was making and selling.

What is your favourite creations from your shop?
One of my most favorite items is my knickers outfit.  It was my first custom order for a customer who was looking for a specific outfit for her son to wear.  It was not something that I sold, but was willing to make for her and it turned out so cute and I also really enjoyed the process of making it.  So it was easy to make that outfit available to others who ended up looking through my shop.

What do you find most challenging about being an Etsy seller?
I try to provide all the information needed for the customers to purchase item, but from there are times when I find it difficult to communicate with the buyer exactly what they are wanting to purchase.  Especially when it comes to custom orders.

What's your personal philosophy behind your shop / products?
Sewing is my favorite thing to do, and something I have done since I was very young. My favorite part is to make something that really stands out, something that is unique and wonderful. As a designer I take pride in creating things that are a cut above basic, something you will cherish.

What do you do when you aren't working?
Mostly when I am not working I am a mom. I carpool my kids all over the place from piano lessons, to art class, to swim and dance class.  I also have a green thumb with my garden.  And I also enjoy trying to also sneak in the occasional date with my hubby.

Anything else you'd like to tell us or share?
Not only do I  make items for boys, but I also do make myself available for custom orders.  I can also create a memorable baby blessing outfits, father and son matching items, matching items for weddings, special birthday outfits or many other items.  I'm up for a challenge.

Kbpdesigns is offering a 20% discount in her shop on orders over $20. To use the coupon visit her etsy store and enter code "ETSYKIDS" at checkout. Valid until May 31st 2014.

Today we would like to introduce you to

Dixie's Doodads Brie's Bows is new to Etsy, and has been selling on Etsy since January 2014, they sell cute hair clips, hair bows and other adorable items for kids! Today they are going to give us a little peak behind the scenes of their Etsy shop.

What motivated you to start your shop?
Having two little girls is what really inspired me to start this shop. You see our 2 and 1/2 year old has a lot of hair and I have always had fun putting pretty hair clips and headbands in her hair. After having our 2nd daughter she didn't have as much hair and hair clips won't stay in very well which is what prompted me to start creating gorgeous headbands. In turn I started making hair clips as well, from there my shop has bloomed into becoming somewhat of a boutique for little girls!

What is the story behind your shop name?
When I first had the idea that I wanted to open this shop I thought of Brie's bows right away being that our littlest daughter's name is Briana, but I knew that I needed to include our oldest daughter as well which is when the Dixie's Doodads part came into the name. Making it Dixie's Doodads Brie's Bows! Plus the doodads portion of the shop name I figured would allow me to add a wider variety of products rather than being restricted to just bows!

What is your favourite creations from your shop?
I really do enjoy making all of my products that's what makes having the shop so fun, if I didn't enjoy making the things I make then I probably wouldn't have continued and opened this shop.
However if I had to pick, there are 2 products that I really like to make and those are my barefoot sandals and any and all of my shabby chic flower headbands I just love the almost country vintage look and feel to the shabby chic flowers.

What do you find most challenging about being an Etsy seller?
My biggest challenge being an Etsy shop owner and seller is finding a good way to get my shop and products out and known about. I do post on my facebook page, website, and in team forms as well as other methods but still it definitely takes a lot more work than you think to get your product and shop noticed!

What do you do when you aren't working?
When I'm not working on something to do with my Etsy shop I can most likely be found spending time with our little girls and tending to their needs whether it be playing, watching a movie or something else as well as spending time with my husband. Those 3 are my biggest motivation and supporters and without them as well as other close family members I am sure there wouldn't be a shop!

Your Mom Designs has been selling on Etsy since November 2008, they sell a collection of yarn and textile goods with families in mind. All items are designed and made by YourMomDesigns, a momma of three kids that thoroughly and aggressively(at times) put to the test and explore creative play. What motivated you to start your shop?
I chose to stay at home when my first child was born, but knew that I wanted to invest time and interest into a personal passion and etsy.com was the perfect avenue to pursue selling my crocheted goods while being able to start at my own pace and learn as I went.

What is the story behind your shop name?
"your mom" jokes always make me laugh - in high school I would often chime in with a "your mom" does such and such and became maybe a little too well known for it. When considering shop names I wanted to come up with something fun and memorable and yourmomdesigns just naturally came about.

What surprised you most about having your own craft / online shop?
The opportunities that I've had to sell wholesale, have patterns published and be a part of collaborations because lovely folks have found me on etsy.com.

What is your favourite creations from your shop?
My nesting bowls are by far one of my favorite things to create - because it is a set, each bowl I make fits into the next I create so the process of making them is just as fun as playing with the finished product and I get to play with color variations as well.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/79119697/roygbiv-nesting-bowls-made-from?ref=shop_home_active_5

What do you find most challenging about being an Etsy seller?
Finding the right balance of time to invest in my personal venture and sticking to a regular work schedule are not my forte, but planning and providing myself with time to actually work and developing a schedule have helped me the most to rise to the challenge.

What's your personal philosophy behind your shop / products?
I want everything that I sell to serve purpose but also be bright and a lot of fun. It's also very important to me to use eco friendly materials when possible, which is why I love working with my handmade up-cycled t-shirt yarn.

What do you do when you aren't working?
I get to enjoy life with my dear husband and three kiddos, the work and wonder of it is something I consider a huge privilege. I am a huge fan of coffee and have a small part time job working for my local Church as a coffee shop manager. I also have a big extended family, with 9 siblings, and spending time with them is one of my greatest treasures.

Meet Etsy Seller MASProductionArts

Posted Wednesday, April 09, 2014

Today we would like to introduce you to
Etsy shop MASProductionArts

MASProductionArts has been selling on Etsy since December 2012, they sell educational materials for kids and beautiful black and white photo prints. Today they are going to give us a little peak behind the scenes of their Etsy shop.

Children's set of six plush felt toy cupcakes for pretend play
$35.00
Hand painted wooden monster blocks
$15.00
Valentine's Day Monster Finger puppets
$10.00
Set of ten sorting circles hand stamped and painted
$10.00

What motivated you to start your shop?
When my daughter was first born I was working full time outside the home. I eventually went to part time and found myself spending some of my spare time making things for her, but I quickly decided she can only have so many little things made by me. So my Etsy shop was born!

What is the story behind your shop name?
My initials are M A S, and I thought it was a clever play on words to say something was "MAS" produced, essentially handmade by me, rather than mass produced, or created in bulk factory style.

What surprised you most about having your own craft / online shop?
I naively thought that I would just list my items and shoppers would flock to my shop and that would be it. I was surprised at the work that has to go into the right tags, product descriptions, great photos etc.

What is your favourite creations from your shop?
I really love working on the monster themed items in my shop. My two year old is fearless and loves all things scary, so she is definitely the inspiration for all the little creatures that I make.

What do you find most challenging about being an Etsy seller?
I can be a bit of a perfectionist, so branding and marketing is challenging for me since I want it all to be exactly right!

What's your personal philosophy behind your shop / products?
As a former preschool teacher and parent of a young child, I want to create things that encourage imaginative play. Too often children are given toys that talk or make music, or light up and I want to offer things that children can use in their own, creative way.
I also try to offer products that travel well, so parents have an option other than giving their child a phone or tablet to play with while they're out and about.

What do you do when you aren't working?
I feel like I'm always working! When I'm not trying to make the ideas in my head into a reality, I love to read and spend time at the park with my family. Now that I'm a full time stay at home Mom, I've also started baking with my daughter and that's been a lot of fun.

Anything else you'd like to tell us or share?

Meet Etsy Seller LaPetiteMaisonBlanc

Posted Friday, April 04, 2014

Today we would like to introduce you to

LaPetiteMaisonBlanc has been selling on Etsy since May 2012, they sell original, unique, personalized gift items from notebooks/mini jotters, fabric storage baskets and lavender bags to glasses cases and home furnishings. Today they are going to give us a little peak behind the scenes of their Etsy shop.

Pirate Boys Bedroom Storage Basket with parrot
$17.00
Owl Notepad. Covered notebook for shopping lists, diary, to-do list...
$7.00
Little Beach Huts Fabric Storage Basket
$15.00
Fabric Storage Basket in a Cartoon Style for little Girls
$17.00

What motivated you to start your shop?
La Petite Maison Blanc started in 2011 when our family moved from the UK to the South of France with my husbands job. I've always been in an artistic role (Graphic Designer, Web Designer, Marketing etc) throughout my career but this move gave the opportunity to go back to my first love of crafts and particularly sewing.
I decided to open a store on Etsy in 2012, and haven't looked back since. I love the fact my work is now in lots of countries around the world including Australia, USA, Europe and Japan.

What is the story behind your shop name?
La Petite Maison Blanc raises a few eyebrows in France as it's grammatically wrong for the ""Little White House"" which many people assume the name means.  (Our house is in fact canary yellow!).
Our family name is White and so the name means The Little Whitehouse :-)
Its a great talking point and ice breaker over here and I enjoy explaining the meaning to bemused locals.

What surprised you most about having your own craft / online shop?
I used to sell crafts on a stall where people can touch and feel the products and see the quality. Starting selling online was exciting as there was a challenge to get the photography right, the descriptions involved enough to provoke interest and then keeping a customer informed of the whole purchasing process so they felt confident and happy to buy from La Petite Maison Blanc. It's a constant learning curve, but a fun one.

What is your favourite creations from your shop?
I love my storage baskets - we have loads here we use ourselves!  Having small children means there is always little pieces of lego, dolls, hair clips etc to tidy and we keep a basket on the stairs to carry things upstairs!  I also have one by the door for car keys, dog leads, one in the kitchen for eggs, one in the bathroom for make-up...
I try to imagine where a buyer will keep their's and what they will use it for to influence the designs and I love a custom order, my customers have the BEST ideas ever!

What do you find most challenging about being an Etsy seller?
Although my background is in Web Design I'm in no way advantaged when it comes to getting found and getting my listings high on product categories. I constantly tweak things to try and better my reach. I'm getting there I think,  but it's a slow process.

What's your personal philosophy behind your shop / products?
Make it well. Make it unique. Make it to last.
Quality products you can't buy on the high street.

What do you do when you aren't working?
I have four children and two lively dogs who keep the house constantly busy. I've recently started running with my eldest daughter which is challenging but fun and we're doing well heading for our first 5k!
Living in the South of France we have the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees on hand to always have something to do and somewhere to go and I love exploring the countryside.

Please tell us a little about the children's items market / handmade movement in your Country?
Handmade is growing here in France but I think there are few people who would search online for it.  Vide Greniers (Like car boot sales) are very popular as are Brocantes (More like an Antiques Fair) and would attract attention if you were physically there. Of all my sales I have the least in my home country, which is really sad.
On the whole I would say the French market is interested in value for money, quality and uniqueness.

Meet Etsy Seller RainbowsLollipopsArt

Posted Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Today we would like to introduce you to

RainbowsLollipopsArt has been selling on Etsy since December 2012, they sell playroom, kids bedroom and nursery art prints! Today they are going to give us a little peak behind the scenes of their Etsy shop.

What motivated you to start your shop?
As a mom, I know how exciting it can be to decorate a children's bedroom or a nursery. I wanted to help mothers get personalized and colorful prints. I started to design some and discovered Etsy afterwards. It seemed like the perfect place to sell my creations!

What is the story behind your shop name?
Well, as you can see, my shop is pretty colorful. This name just popped into my mind and seemed to fit. You could say I was inspired, or that this name is like the soul of my shop.

What surprised you most about having your own craft / online shop?
The amount of time I would consecrate to my shop. I changed my pictures 3 times before I was really satisfied of my shop's look. Marketing can be quite time consuming too. But overall, I really enjoy it. I guessed that surprised me too. I LOVE having an Etsy shop.

What is your favourite creations from your shop?My favorite items to create are my bathroom rules prints. I really enjoy creating them, finding new characters, new animals, new styles for them. I have more than 30 sets of bathroom prints in my shop. I'm constantly working on creating more, and they sell very well! I also enjoy customizing them to match my customer's shower curtains!

What's your personal philosophy behind your shop / products?
I want to make my products perfect for my customers. I want them to really LOVE their prints. I send as many previews as they need, and if they want anything changed, I'll do it.

What do you do when you aren't working?
I am a stay at home mom, so basically, I'm taking care of my kids. My kids are 3 and almost 2, so it can be pretty challenging sometimes, but still so worth it!

RainbowsLollipopsArt is offering a 10% discount in their shop. To use the coupon visit her etsy store and enter code "10FORYOU" at checkout. Valid until March 31 2014.
